Wild Star Lantern

Chapter 31: Wild stars are lights

Views:

The early summer rain has become quite fierce.

Bean-sized raindrops accompanied by slight thunder hit the glass windows of the examination room, making crackling sounds.

The banana tree outside the building hasn't raised its head for several days.

The two days of intense exams passed quickly amid the sound of rain and drums.

After finishing the last English exam and handing in the paper, Gu Jianian sat for a while and let out a breath slowly.

She didn't know whether she had done well in the exam.

But she completed all the subjects and every question carefully.

After almost all the candidates had left the examination room, Gu Jianian stretched, picked up his transparent examination bag and walked out of the examination room.

The light is a bit blinding.

The rain that had been falling for several days stopped in the middle of the last exam. The dark clouds that covered the sky parted and the long-lost sunshine poured down.

Water was dripping from the eaves.

Gu Jianian carried the exam bag and picked up the umbrella thrown outside the exam room, feeling a numb feeling in his heart.

I couldn't quite tell where I was, and my steps were so light, as if every brick on the ground was so far away.

Gu Jianian walked all the way to the door of Class 30 with a wooden face.

There were already many students in the class who had finished their exams, including her deskmate.

Everybody was cheering and jumping for joy, talking in unison, with beaming looks, as if some great event had happened.

"I finished the fucking exam! I'm free!"

"I've finally made it this far! I want to go home and have some fun!"

"Let's go to the bar tonight. We are going to have a werewolf game. Wanna go?"

"… "

Gu Jianian stood at the door and turned her gaze to her deskmate.

She took two or three steps with her long legs and jumped onto the table. Standing tall, she poured out all the books and test papers in her schoolbag like an invincible force.

She bent down, grabbed a handful, and tore it into pieces triumphantly.

Those white papers look like snow in June.

My deskmate showed a row of sparkling white teeth.

"I didn't pass the exam last year, but I finally passed it this year. Even though I feel like I did rubbish, I don't care! Stupid senior year, stupid repeater, I'm finally free!"

At that moment, the reality of the college entrance examination hit me.

At this time last year, Gu Jianian's memory was very vague. She only remembered that she took the two-day college entrance examination in a daze, packed her things and went home in fear, and locked herself in the room.

I am so self-enclosed that I don’t have the time to observe other people’s reactions or to feel the joy of liberation.

But this time, she suddenly felt that she felt it.

It seemed as if the air was filled with a sweet smell.

Gu Jianian slowly broke into a broad smile. She walked to her seat and took out two thick textbooks and a reference book as heavy as a brick from the desk.

It's all been a nightmare for the past year.

She raised her head and stretched out her hand to Song Minwen: "Wenwen, give me a hand."

"no problem."

Song Minwen pulled her up with force.

"Although the teacher said that whoever tears up the books will clean up -" Gu Jianian stood on the table with her, his eyes bright, and his voice had a nasal tone of someone who had just recovered from a cold, "- but that's all for the future!"

As she spoke, she tore off the inner pages of the Wu San with a few "clicks" and threw them up suddenly.
