Chapter 922: A trap

When he saw Peles in the reception room of Kyros's house, he found three people standing behind him. One was a strong and energetic young man. He was wearing leather armor and should be a guard. Kyros took a quick look at this kind of person and didn't pay attention to him. Judging from his body shape and movements, he was at best a high-ranking one. The other two were young girls wearing skirts, holding wine jugs and fruit plates in their hands. They should be the maids he left behind to serve.

The hall was surrounded by arches leading to the garden on all four sides, and there was almost no obstruction inside and outside the room, so Kyros could see almost everything from his position.

The two great swordsmen behind Kyros began to walk around, checking whether there were any hidden enemies inside and outside the room. The great magician cast detection magic in the room as if no one was around. After checking everywhere, he said, "Sir, there are no traps, and no hidden auras have been found."

This behavior of casting spells and checking indiscriminately in other people's homes was very rude, but Kyros didn't care at all. Pelesc, the Lord of Bailang City opposite him, acted as if he didn't see anything and allowed them to check and cast spells.

After Kyros's men had completed all the checks and indicated that it was safe, Pelesi bowed respectfully to Kyros and said, "Saint, thank you for coming here. I have prepared a gift for you."

Kiros said, "How come I never knew you had such a holy weapon hidden?"

Peleis bowed his head and said, "Our family has ruled White Wave City for nearly five hundred years, and we have accumulated some wealth, but this dagger has never found a suitable owner. Now that I think about it, no one is more suitable to use this dagger than Lord Kyros."

"Peles, you are a smart guy. Unlike the two idiots in Coconut City and Luori City. If they could be as sensible as you, this would not be the outcome. The southern city-states have been ruled by some selfish guys for many years. They have a larger population and more developed business than the empire and the kingdom, but they have been suppressed in this small corner. Why? It is because these cities are like loose sand and cannot gather strength together. The so-called alliance is just a place for old guys to compete for product quotas. None of these people are interested in making the South truly strong. If they can make the right choice like you, our country will not be like it is now." Kyros did not sit down, but said to Peles with his hands behind his back.

"You are right. However, if you hadn't stepped forward to take the lead this time, I wouldn't have come to my senses and joined your army to fight." Pelesch said cooperatively.

Kyros nodded and said, “Three years ago, the Chinese and the Kingdom were fighting each other, but those short-sighted guys here didn’t even think of sending troops, otherwise we would have earned a lot of profits in the Kingdom.

So, I don't want to wait any longer. You know, the God of Nature is about to wake up. No one can tell what the world will be like by then, but one thing is certain: the strong will always be strong. What we have to do is to hold the city-state together as much as possible before then."

"Your wisdom is the fortune of the southern city-state," said Peleš.

"Haha, I wonder how many of those idiots are still scolding me. They say I am the disaster of the southern city-state, the plague of light. Humph, how many of them understand my painstaking efforts?" Kyros shook his head disdainfully and turned to Pelesc and said, "Show me your gift. My return will not disappoint you."

"Of course." Pelesi waved his hand back, and the young guard took a box from the cabinet next to him that was beautifully decorated yet had an ancient feel.

He carefully held the box in front of Kyros and opened it. Inside the box was a dagger of a strange shape, with a thick back and serrated edges, and the blade had a very strange arc.

As a warrior, Kyros is of course a person who loves weapons. This weapon style is very new to him, and it exudes a very special magic. He has never felt this kind of aura on any other weapon, as if it does not really exist in this world.

Just as he was looking at the dagger, it suddenly became invisible and turned into pure magical energy, which suddenly exploded. Kyros was disturbed by the explosion and stagnated for a moment. Then he felt a strange spatial fluctuation coming from a maid behind Pelesch.

The wave swept the entire room, dragging him into an unknown place. Kyros hurriedly activated his fighting spirit to escape the control of that power, but even when he turned into light and landed again, he found himself being pulled out of the original world and in a huge arena with his three subordinates. Across from him, separated by a light curtain, were Pelesi and the man and two women.

Now Kyros would not think that the other party was a guard or a maid. He saw Pelesi retreating far away, and the sturdy man walked to the front and was looking at him very seriously. His expression was like a tiger ready to pounce on its prey.

As for the maids behind, one was holding a white spear in one hand, and the other was holding an ice-blue staff. The two of them were now calm and not as restrained as before. Instead, they revealed the demeanor of a master.

Then something even stranger happened. The two earrings on the maid holding the gun turned into two black and white lights, and a male wizard and a female swordsman appeared beside them. Two warriors appeared out of thin air beside the maid holding the staff, one holding a spear and the other holding a weapon unique to the Chinese: a rifle.

"Chinese!" As the light curtain was removed, the field became a four-on-eight confrontation. When Quiros saw the opponent's weapons, he quickly associated them with the information related to China. "Peles, you actually betrayed your own compatriots and cooperated with the Chinese. You are a traitor to the southern city-state!"

"You were the one who had the idea of hitting me first, so don't blame me for trying to resist." Peleš said while hiding at the back.

"Don't you know how greedy these guys are for the land?" Kyros said angrily.

"No. You are the greedy one. They don't want my city!" said Peleš.

"Alright. There's no point in saying these things now, Kyros." The young man in the lead said. Although he was wearing leather armor, he had no weapons in his hands. Instead, a little starlight appeared around him. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Liu Yisheng. I'm here to take your life today. But you've got one thing wrong. We're not here to covet the land in the south. We're here to kill you."

"Aren't you greedy for land? Humph, that sounds nice, but don't you just want to kill me and march south?" Kyros sneered.

"You are wrong. There is only one reason to kill you, because you are willing to be the running dog of the God of Nature!" (To be continued)
