Being A Detective in The World of Film and Television

Chapter 1383: The money power from Franklin (2 more)

Views:

The dark and deep sewers have always been a classic scene in horror movies.

At this moment, Luke and the other man were still walking at a scene where a body was suspected to have been dumped. The sound of dripping water and the squeaking of rats running around added to the atmosphere.

However, neither of them felt anything.

Two minutes passed in silence, and Luke suddenly stopped.

There is a fork in the road ahead.

After arriving here, the sewer was divided into three parts. Luke stood there, and after a moment, he made a jewelry gesture, and the two walked towards the one on the left.

The stench began to fade and the air became much drier.

Selina looked at the dry sewer and edited a text message to Luke through her sunglasses: "This seems to be an abandoned sewer?"

Luke: "It should be, but it's inhabited. Maybe we can find a few witnesses."

Selina: "Homeless?"

Luke looked strange: "I guess so."

After walking a few dozen meters, the two men stood in front of an iron gate.

Luke glanced over and fiddled with the lock on the iron door for a moment. The lock opened with a click.

They opened the iron door a crack large enough for a person to pass through and walked in.

After turning two more corners, a slightly dim light appeared on the wall not far away.

Selina only took a glance and said: "There is surveillance. There is a problem here."

"He's probably not the one we're looking for. He could be a witness." Luke raised his hand to signal her to stay calm.

In fact, there was a sensor on the iron gate just now. It started sending an alarm signal after it was opened, but they couldn't hear it.

Selina relaxed her hand on the gun handle at her waist a little, but the opened buckle did not close again.

The two walked into the range of the surveillance camera behind the light, and the surveillance camera slightly adjusted its angle.

Luke raised his face and pulled out the police badge wallet on his chest: "We need to know some information about this sewer. We will leave after asking. Can we talk?"

He has a standard office smile on his face, and people who are not familiar with him would think he is gentle and amiable at first glance.

Selina curled her lips and sent a message through her sunglasses: "Female?"

Luke simply gave her a thumbs-up behind his back with one hand, indicating that she had guessed correctly, with the smile on his face still intact.

After a moment, a small iron door on the side made a slight sound, and a small window opened, revealing a pair of eyes: "What do you want to know?"

Selina raised an eyebrow.

The woman deliberately lowered her voice and pinched her throat, but she didn't sound very old.

Luke: "Are you familiar with the sewer 500 meters to the east?"

"I'm not familiar with it. I don't go there very often." After a moment of silence, the female voice from inside the iron gate answered.

Luke smiled and walked forward. He reached into his pocket and a green bill appeared in his hand. He stuffed it into the small window at a very steady speed: "This is a tip. If there is anything that interests me, I will give you the remaining 50%."

As soon as he finished speaking, the banknote in his hand moved and was pulled in.

Selina rolled her eyes: Money, especially money coming from Franklin, is really not something a homeless person can resist, even if this homeless person is a little girl.

After a while, a female voice sounded: "It is said that several homeless people have disappeared there, and some people have heard the howling of evil spirits. Now no one dares to go there."

Luke immediately stuffed another Franklin in there: "Anything else?"

The female voice was silent for a moment again, shocked by the behavior of this super rich man.

In a word, two hundred dollars.

She had heard that homeless people could get rewarded for providing information to others.

But the police are very poor. They usually give five to ten dollars, which is just enough for a fast food meal. They are not that generous.

Although she was a little scared in her heart, she felt that it might be difficult to take such money.

But another voice seemed to tell her that the young man in front of her was harmless and trustworthy.

Especially the smile on the other person's handsome face, which made her seem to see the sunshine on the beach in the early morning, soft, bright, and clear, yet not dazzling.

After hesitating for a moment, she chose to tell the truth: "As far as I know, Morey, Barrick, Madeline, and Semiel who were active there have all disappeared. They didn't disappear at the same time, but one disappeared every few weeks. Most people said they moved to a new place or died from drugs, but no one has seen their bodies, and the police have no news of their deaths."

Selina was surprised and quickly sent a message to Luke: "How did she know the police information?"

Luke: “We’ll know soon.”

In response, he took out two more Franklins and stuffed them into the window. "This is not a good place to talk. At noon, at the fast food restaurant next to the parking lot on Beach Avenue, we will wait for you at the window seat on the far left of the entrance. Well, it's my treat, eat as much as you want."

After saying that, he nodded slightly, and the two turned and left.

Several minutes after the two left, the small iron door opened and a thin figure stood there.

Looking at the direction Luke left, she hesitated.

But the power of the four Franklins in her hand is really great. She got them just by saying a few words, and she can also have a full meal.

If it is a man with ulterior motives, she will not hesitate and will just reject him directly.

The other party also brought a very beautiful female colleague with him.

It seems a bit far-fetched to say that he had any bad intentions towards her.

And Luke seemed to know her concerns and chose the location at a fast food restaurant that was busiest at noon.

Even if the other party was a policeman, it was impossible for him to arrest her in front of so many people for no reason.

It doesn't take that much trouble to catch her. Even if you forcefully break down her small iron door, it won't last long.

After hesitating for less than a minute, she gritted her teeth, put four hundred dollars into an iron box, put it against the wall, and stepped out of her nest.

In the fast food restaurant, Selina sipped her hot chocolate: "What's so special about that little girl?"

If they just wanted to get the information, it would be enough to spend money there. A person like Luke who does not do anything without profit would not go to the trouble of treating the little girl to a meal.

Luke added a lot of fresh milk to his coffee, put two sugar cubes in it, took a sip, and nodded with satisfaction.

He likes to drink this kind of milky and sweet coffee. Ginny, who is keen on drinking black coffee, always looks at him with contempt.

In the words of the president, this kind of milk tea coffee completely suppresses the aroma of the coffee itself and has no soul at all.

But for Luke, whose coffee-making skills are far better than those of the professional maid, there is no difference in the taste of a cup of coffee that costs $200 or $2.

Anyway, it's almost the same once you add milk and sugar.

Selina nudged him with her elbow in dissatisfaction: "Why are you keeping me in suspense? Just tell me."

Luke put down his coffee cup, thought about his words, and finally said, "She is a little special. She should not be an ordinary person."

Selina's eyes lit up.

The "special" that Luke mentioned certainly doesn't mean particularly beautiful or particularly talented. His tone clearly meant that she was different from normal humans.
