"What a nice smell!" Yue'er sniffed, breathing in the fragrance that permeated the air, following the scent with shining eyes.
Under a tree in the grove, an old beggar was drinking wine and cooking meat. In front of him, a pot with a missing corner was still emitting steam and fragrance, and the fire under the pot was still burning. Obviously, the meat in the pot seemed not to be cooked yet.
"Old beggar?" When Yue'er saw the beggar, a hint of surprise appeared in her beautiful eyes. She trotted forward and inhaled the fragrance next to the pot. Smelling the fragrance, she narrowed her eyes and smiled.
"This is the smell, old beggar. What kind of meat are you cooking? Why does it smell so good?" She acted very familiar and rubbed herself to the wooden place where the old beggar was sitting. She stretched her neck to look at the meat that was still cooking and swallowed her saliva like a greedy cat.
The old beggar glanced at her and said, "Didn't you get anything to eat?"
"No, they let the dog bite me, and I ran away. I didn't get close to the village!" Yue Er shook her head and stared at the pot with fragrant smell. She asked, "Old beggar, can you give me some of the meat in this pot? I'm hungry too!"
The old beggar poked the fire with a branch, and said in a slow and indifferent voice: "You are a beggar, and I am also a beggar. Why should I share some food with you?"
"I can give you money!" Yue Er looked at him with a smile and took out a gold coin: "I'll give you money, and you share my food. I won't take advantage of you."
The old beggar glanced at her, stretched out his skinny hand to take the gold coin, and asked, "Did you bring the bowl?"
"I brought it!" Yue'er responded with a smile in a loud voice, and took out a bowl from her arms.
The old beggar opened the lid, and a meaty aroma wafted into the air. The fragrance spread in all directions, making it even more appetizing. Yue'er couldn't help but swallow the water and move closer with the bowl in her hand.
"Pass it over." The old beggar shouted, scooped a spoonful into Yue'er's bowl, then scooped a spoonful for himself, covered the lid, and used two thin branches as chopsticks to pick up the meat and eat.
Yue'er had her own chopsticks, so she sat back and started eating with the bowl of meat. As she took a bite of the meat, the rich aroma of the meat spread in her mouth. She opened her mouth slightly to exhale because of the hot meat, then lowered her head and started eating again.
The old beggar drank wine and ate meat, and from time to time he glanced at the young beggar next to him. Seeing that her bowl was empty, he added another large spoonful of food to her bowl.
Yue Er ate three bowls of meat before stopping. She held her stomach and leaned against a tree, letting out a sigh of relief. Her face was full of satisfaction. She asked curiously, "Old beggar, what kind of meat is this? Why is it so delicious? I've eaten a lot of meat, but I've never eaten meat stewed like this. It's so delicious."
"This is dog meat." The old beggar took a sip of wine and spoke slowly.
Yue'er was stunned for a moment, and almost instinctively exclaimed: "Dog meat? This is dog meat? Where did you get the dog?" After she finished speaking, she didn't know what she thought of, and her eyes widened in surprise.
The old beggar took another bite of meat and said, "It's the big yellow dog at the entrance of the village. I just stewed it in a pot." He glanced at her, a teasing smile flashed across his cloudy eyes, and said, "Why? You don't eat dog meat? Just now you said it was delicious, and you ate three bowls."
