In particular, Confucius himself said his teaching purpose: "If you are not angry, you cannot be enlightened; if you are not frustrated, you cannot speak out. If you raise one corner without using the other three to support it, it will be useless."
In simple terms, this means that when teaching students, do not guide them until they have tried their best but have not yet acquired the correct knowledge; do not inspire them until they have reached a bottleneck and want to speak out but are just a little short of being able to do so. If students cannot draw inferences from one instance, do not teach them anymore.
This kind of educational method can be regarded as a stroke of genius when it comes to educating geniuses. It is the summary of Confucius' experience in educating students over many years. It is not just empty talk, but his practical life experience.
This way, you can achieve the greatest results with the least effort.
However, this method of education is only suitable for elite education, especially for people with strong subjective initiative, and those with strong self-control and learning ability. Once this method is used in mass education, it will be an educational disaster.
It is precisely because humans have been using this method of education for a long time that there is a shortage of talents in all classes, especially at the bottom, and it even buries some geniuses who are early fools and late bloomers.
However, Confucius had another teaching method, which was praised by his disciple Yan Hui, also known as Yan Zi, "The Master is patient and good at persuading people."
This sentence is Yan Zi praising Confucius for guiding and teaching his disciples in an orderly manner, and the focus of this sentence is "guide".
But in Fang Yun's opinion, to describe Yan Zi in vulgar terms is like "talking without any pain in the waist".
Because Confucius once praised Yan Zi in the Analects: "I talked with Hui all day long, and he never disagreed. He seemed foolish. But when I stepped back and reflected on his private affairs, I realized that Hui was not foolish at all."
This means that Confucius taught Yan Zi all day long, but Yan Zi rarely raised objections or questions, like a stupid person who didn't understand. In fact, Yan Zi understood some things and didn't understand others, but after listening to the lecture, he went back to study and could solve his own questions and achieve success. It can be seen that Yan Zi was not stupid.
In other words, Yan Zi was a genius to some extent, otherwise he would not have been praised so many times by Confucius. Even Confucius said that he wanted to learn from Yan Zi. Yan Zi was Confucius' most valued disciple.
This is the education and learning method between two academic masters. The primary school master is smart and quick to understand, while the university master is extremely intelligent and will not speak out until he is angry or frustrated. So in the eyes of the primary school master, the university master is guiding him in his studies in a very precise and orderly way.
In fact, for ordinary students, listening to Confucius' lectures is basically confusing, and Confucius' actual lectures are not at all instructive.
Many old teachers recite "The Analects" to their students. They only read separately the sentences that have formed a general consensus. As for the controversial parts, they read them in long sentences without caring whether the students can understand them or not.
Therefore, Fang Yun plans to give up elite education and conduct mass education. Although this will make the teaching profession suffer and require huge sacrifices, it will not be understood by students or even society, but there is no other way.
Not everyone is Confucius, and not everyone is Yan Zi.
If the human race wants to grow, there must be endless sacrifices.
Many times, as long as there is one person who remembers, as long as there is one person who is grateful, the sacrifice is worth it.
The essence of mass education is to be simple and understandable, well-organized, and to truly guide students step by step.
Punctuation, simplified fonts, phonetic notation, and the tactic of solving a large number of questions are all of paramount importance, and none of them can be dispensable.
The so-called tactic of giving students a large number of questions is the opposite of the principle of learning by analogy. Students should learn by analogy one thing and apply it to another. Instead of advocating quality-oriented education, the cramming-style teaching is adopted. This way, any late bloomers will not be missed and ordinary students will also be able to make obvious improvements.
Whether in Shengyuan Continent or in the ancient country of China, every student must recognize one thing: the purpose of learning is not to pass the exam, but to enrich knowledge, acquire abilities, survive, and give oneself more choices.
Too many students receive the wrong education during their childhood and adolescence, thinking that learning is just about coping with exams. Even if they eventually achieve academic success and get good educational opportunities, they fall into confusion and are unable to overcome the slightest setback. Even if they later realize that they made a huge mistake, they are unable to calm down and re-learn due to the huge inertia, and naturally cannot make progress in life.
A long time ago, Fang Yun decided to give all students a clear understanding. Even if most students failed to see through the essence of learning, at least it would be pointed out early on, which would have a certain corrective effect on their lives.
Over the years, Fang Yun has read all versions of the "Analects of Confucius" in Shengyuan Continent, and has also read all the related books on ancient China. He has a deep understanding of the "Analects of Confucius" and has his own opinions.
As early as after he was promoted to the second level Confucian scholar, Fang Yun had felt that his strength had reached a bottleneck. He realized that he could be promoted to the third level, but it would be very difficult to go further. He felt something in his heart, and read "The Analects of Confucius" repeatedly. Finally, he was attracted by what Confucius said, "Memorize it silently, never tire of learning, and never tire of teaching others." He pondered over it again and again, and suddenly realized it.
These three sentences are known to almost everyone not only in Shengyuan Continent but also in the ancient country of China. However, there are very few people who can truly see through them, that is, people who can reach the realm of "drawing inferences from one example".
Knowing it silently is the first step, which is the most basic reading and memorization, even if it is rote memorization.
Learning without getting tired, the literal meaning is learning without getting bored, but the literal translation should be that learning cannot have limitations, it must have breadth, as well as depth in areas of expertise, and repeated learning.
As for the last part, "tireless teaching", Fang Yun initially thought it was just Confucius' teaching method, but after pondering it, he realized that this is actually the method of learning!
The focus of “tireless teaching” is not teaching people, but the “tireless” behind it, which means teaching others or sharing knowledge tirelessly and generously. Only in this way can one gain a more thorough and solid grasp of knowledge.
After Fang Yun realized it, he immediately remembered that some people in later generations had done research and found that one could only acquire a small amount of knowledge through lectures and initial learning, only one-tenth or one-twelve, and it was not solid because most of what one had learned would be forgotten.
Only after review can we firmly acquire a certain amount of knowledge, but only about 20% to 30%.
But if you use teaching or communication to express the knowledge you have learned and reviewed, then not only will you gain more knowledge, it is possible to acquire 90% or even more than 100% of it, and it will be very solid.
Thousands of years ago, Confucius already knew this principle and has been applying it ever since!
The more Fang Yun read "The Analects of Confucius", the more he found that the most essential part of the book was the way of learning, and the rest, whether it was benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom or politics, were all details.
The Analects of Confucius is a magical book that teaches people how to fish.
Therefore, Fang Yun decided to implement the three-step method of learning, reviewing and teaching in the future Fang’s College. Although letting students teach is the most time-consuming and difficult to implement, it can enable them to make great progress and can be used in key knowledge.
At worst, let the children tell their parents. Regardless of whether the parents listen carefully or not, letting the children speak there is an excellent way to learn.
Teaching is not just a single act of speaking, but a complex and continuous behavior, which also includes the most critical aspects of tapping into memory and reinforcing knowledge.
It was after learning this that Fang Yun was able to educate those on the edge of the holy path!
.
What I really don’t want the author to preach is for the characters in the book to be enough, but I’m afraid that some readers may not read this chapter carefully.
So I may take up the paid chapter to say a few words to let everyone spend a few more cents. Whether in school or in society, we must keep learning, reviewing and teaching, especially for those who have children. It is very important to cultivate children. Of course, genius does not matter, anyone who grows up is an elite.
The confused person mentioned in the article is my classmate. He had excellent grades in school, but he fell into love during college. Now he has a wife and a son. This year, I contacted him again and he cried and said that his parents did not know how to plan his life, did not choose a major and career for him, did not point out the real path for him, and studied only for exams, which made him regret it now. He said that if I had scolded him to motivate him, he would definitely not be like this now.
Unfortunately, I didn’t understand these principles back then.
If no one pointed out the problem to you back then, you can regret it. But if someone pointed it out to you and you still didn’t do it, then you can only sigh.
The key to progress is change.
Having said this, I feel inferior to others in my writing and in my novel, but I really can't help it. I'm sorry.
