Dear diary. Vertex 23S. Fastest update
It has been half a month since I last wrote in my diary. A lot of things happened, but nothing happened
This is what one has to go through when living in a new place. I will spend all my time and energy observing, judging, and testing how you get along with this new environment. New people, new situations, new... everything. So much so that I didn't have any chance left to myself to do what I came here for.
My purpose, my purpose... seems so far away now. Perhaps, the current communication with my dear diary can help me clarify some things.
The day after I last wrote in my diary, the day after I became an employee of Grande, I found an opportunity to get close to the 'owner of the house', Zachary Grande.
I don't know what happened to his master. It seems that the conflict between him and the supposedly famous police detective (James) the day before caused him to lose the only protection he had in his 'home' of Grande. That North Precinct police station named Chapman was repossessed. My new colleagues, a bunch of guys who were stupid enough to have been in jail, were excitedly discussing, "He's done. Grande is going to be clean."
I found a little gap before Evan, who was eager to try, and had a brief exchange with Mr. Grande.
A fruitless exchange. "Just call me Zach." This was the self-introduction he added during this exchange, and it was also the only information he gave me.
Day three in Grande. This is a day that makes me nervous. Steve Walker showed up at Grande, looking for Zach who would one day be wiped out from his staff (at least that's what my new colleagues were discussing privately).
I've been avoiding it. I don’t know enough about this city, and I don’t know enough about the gray professionals in this city. I don’t know how much professional ethics they have. I don't want to be seen by this Steve Walker and say, "How are you doing with your new identity?" I don't need after-sales service.
The fifth day in Grande was a day full of surprises. Evan was abused by Zach, the master of Grande whom he had said countless times in private that he would torture him in different ways.
No one saw exactly what happened, but when everyone heard Evan's screams, he was already locked in a damaged coffin and hung from the ceiling of Grande's West Warehouse. I have absolutely no idea how this Zach accomplished this 'work'. But everyone heard his words very clearly:
"Apologise, Matthew, or this is your coffin."
Old Hank, who had always acquiesced and even encouraged employees' private discussions, did not help Evan this time.
This made me realize that there are some things that seem to be clearly defined at the Grand Funeral Home. There are tacit rules between the two divided groups, the leaders, Hank and Zach. Before the owner Zachary Grande loses his identity, there are some things that neither party is allowed to happen. As for me, I don’t think what’s not allowed to happen is just Evan bullying the honest Matthew.
Day 6 at Grande. I see hope. Zach's girlfriend Louise is back.
They had an argument, and Louise seemed frustrated with how her boyfriend's situation at home had deteriorated in her time away.
Dear Diary, If I could, I would try to listen to more of the argument, but I can't, and when I hear 'James' name being mentioned so frequently, Hank gives us a job. In Pai Siying in the North District, something appeared that needed professionals to clean it up.
Hank called me, Logan declined to go with me, and Evan took over. After cleaning up the human remnants smeared on the floor and walls like paste, I returned to Grande with fatigue and expectations, looking forward to the seventh day.
On my ninth day at Grande, my already burning expectations finally had a chance to vent.
After two consecutive days of marathon, I am no longer sure whether it was a couple quarreling or something else, Louise finally walked out of Grande.
I've never seen a woman so 'glowing', literally. I could see the sun shining on her skin. She is beautiful.
But that's not the point. That Susan is also beautiful. Work is work.
I had a brief exchange with Louise. Like her boyfriend, "Are you Dale Walker? Just call me Louise." But at least it's a start.
Day 10 at Grande. I had no idea that this funeral home could really hold funerals.
Everyone on that side of the family all joined in the work, Zach, Louise, Logan, Russell, Charlie, Bain, and even the republican cook who rarely appeared, Mo.
I don't think Hank on our side of the family would have helped if Alice and Maya hadn't started helping as well.
Grande suddenly became as busy as a real funeral home. Who is the deceased? It seems to be a very famous lady in the city of Barton, Quinn. People crowded this funeral home.
Day 11 at Grande. Grande was still crowded, mostly reporters, and some important people in Barton, such as the mayor. I saw her, my employer, my former employer, Ethera.
After waiting for Ethera to express her condolences to Mrs. Quinn in front of the microphone and camera, and her satisfaction with the results of the 'Halfway House' project (haha, dear diary, did you know that it was this woman who put a bunch of people in prison? gangsters gathered in this Grande), I found the opportunity to contact her.
Amazing. When we were looking for a place to communicate away from the camera, we met Zach and Louise who were also avoiding the camera for some reason.
What I didn't want to happen, happened.
From the moment I walked into the Grand, I knew why I was found by Hank and invited into the Grand. Hank needs the same professional talents. This old man who claims to have retired from Barton's gray professional circle has no talents. He needs me, and I need him.
I have a problem to deal with. The woman who witnessed the entire process of my first business in Barton. And Hank, who is chasing me, has a clue.
Hank promised that work is work. He came to me not for revenge on Susan, but because someone in Grand wanted to know Susan's whereabouts. I handed over what Susan had left and everything was fine, he didn't care what I wanted to do.
Two brief interactions with Zach and Louise confirmed this. These two were the clients who asked Hank to find me, and they really didn't have any ill intentions toward the Susan I was hired to kill. But they didn't give any clues about the trouble.
On this day, I knew the name of this troublemaker. Daisy. She had escaped from Barton.
"You won't receive your final payment, and your work is not clean." Asela, she didn't seem to want to say more to me. She was obviously more concerned about Zach and Louise, "You two are trying to laugh at me. Well, I found such an unreliable killer to eliminate your hidden danger. Not only was he found by you, but he also joined your Grande. Smile, I will give you this opportunity. "
Puzzled. What exactly was I going through? Are these two people from Grande the ones who wanted Susan to die? They obviously had the ability and resources to act on their own, but they asked Ethela to do it, so I was born. Then something unexpected happened, and after Daisy witnessed the whole process, she returned to Louise, and Zach then used Grande's resources to find me? In the end, Hank, who was obviously not on Zach's side, recruited me
Are these people sick
Dear diary, what should I do to continue the unaddressed troubles and receive the final payment from the job. It's better to leave this confusing people and things behind and think about your future. I entered Grande to obtain information about Daisy. Should I stay or leave
Stay, I have the resources, Hank, and this already baffles me about Grande's relationship with Patton's important people. Leave, I have no money, I didn’t receive the final payment from Aisela.
On the twelfth day, Gran was even more crowded, and the funeral was held publicly in the Church of the Holy Son. But in Grande, there was the real funeral of Mrs. Quinn, and her relatives and friends were all here.
Cars from Barton's West Enders blocked the gravel road in front of Grande, and a group of high school students took over Grande's duties and took over the funeral process. Strange funeral, they said, this was the funeral Mrs. Quinn wanted, an Indian funeral. I can't understand.
What I can see and understand is Zach and Hank.
It seems that within Grande, everyone already knows how precarious the position of the master of Grande is, but that Zach is still the master of Grande. He knew all the guests attending this internal funeral. I mean, every one.
I have never seen a person who can maintain communication with so many people in a social situation at the same time.
As for Hank, there seemed to be only a few people who symbolically expressed that they had not seen each other for a long time and ignored him.
I'm still on Hank's side of the Grand family, but I have to ask, "Is Zachary Grande really the fake Grande? Does he have to be purged from Grande?"
"must!"
I can't understand this answer.
Thirteenth day at Grande. Just two days ago, a visitor arrived in Grande.
The two of them arrived one after another, and my colleagues, the 'midway citizens' who had worked hard to dress up and groom themselves in the past few days to show their hard work in front of the camera, began to hide. They told me that the first one to come was Darcy, the current chief of the North District Police Department, and the second one was Colon, the former chief of the North District Police Department and now the South District Police Department.
I was unable to obtain any idea of the purpose for which these two visitors came to Grande, as they only went to Grande's office. Zach's office.
I asked Hank again, "Why can't Grande let this Zachary Grande stay?"
"Can't just can't."
Dear diary, should I switch sides.
Day fourteen at Grande, yesterday. The two chiefs who had just come to Grande the day before appeared on TV together. They said that the self-destruction case had been solved. We are grateful to the citizens for supporting the police’s actions, grieving to the citizens who were injured in the attack, and praising the police officers who have completed their work and once again defended the city.…
Who cares.
I only care about one thing, the recurring Grande in the lengthy list of thanks, condolences, praise...
I found Bane. He seems to be the most talkative one on the other side of the family because he has no choice. His wife and children live in the living area, which is a burden to him, so he must accommodate Evan's gang.
"One of Grande's employees died in a self-destruction? Sam, is that right? Why have I never heard anyone mention him?" I asked.
I got no answer, just a don't talk to me look.
today. I'm always looking for opportunities to connect with people there. Russell, Logan, Charlie...anyone will do.
no chance. Grande's neighbor invited Zack and his gang to visit, and everyone on the other side of the house, except for Bain who made it clear he didn't want to talk to me, disappeared.
Dear diary, look at the moon outside the window tonight. It is big, round and bright. Right above our heads. It's starting to land to the west, and it's coming tomorrow.
how should I do
In a window in the Grande employee living area, the dimness that lasted for a while behind the closed window dimmed. The window was open a crack. A man's head stuck out and rubbed his body that was hit by the cold wind, but he seemed not to be ready to take his body back, and a spark lit up between his fingers.
"Do you have any more?"
Dale looked up in surprise. He couldn't see the whole thing, only a section of the leg that was exposed.
"have what?"
"Smoke," Zach answered.
Dale hesitated for a while, turned around, and came back a moment later, holding a cigarette and lighter, and threw it up.
"I'm not alone." Zach wanted more.
"How did you get up there?" Maybe this was an opportunity, Dell was ready to go up.
"No, give me a pack."
Under the moonlight, a pack of cigarettes goes against gravity. The sound of lighters being fired continuously.
Dale counted the times, "How many people are up there?"
"Haha." Behind Zach's laughter was Zach's face, "You want to join? Sorry, it's only for members."
"What member?" Even though he knew it was just an exclusive joke, he still asked. Opportunity, how rare it is, Diary knows.
"Eternal member." An unknown voice seemed to be somewhat old, with an incomprehensible smile. Someone echoed the laughter.
"We are not yet..."
"Shhh!!"
"Russell?!" Dell confirmed that the voice in the middle was Russell! 'us'? What 'we', "Logan? Charlie? Is it you?" This is just a guess.
It was quiet up there.
"Dale?" Zach's face was downward, facing Dale, "What were you doing just now? Aren't you asleep yet."
"Nothing." 'I'm writing in a diary,' is the answer no adult would say.
"Do you have a secret Dale?" Zach's voice was, uh, so gentle. It's probably the moon that's causing trouble.
"Everyone has a secret." The unmistakable answer.
"Haha, then this." Zach stretched out his hand, shaking the cigarette case which was already rattling due to the missing contents. "It's our secret, how about it?"
Dale frowned. Confusion prevails. Does Grande's owner smoke on the roof in the middle of the night need to be a secret? Did I miss something
Zach seemed to be unwilling to pay any more attention to it. "Haha, secrets must be kept, right? Dale." He took his head back and said, "Let's change places."
"Madam, do you want to move some more?"
"I'd love to. I want to see the woods to the south."
"Heh, let's go then."
Dale lay on the window sill and waited for a long time until he could no longer bear the heat.
Dear Diary, I just finished another brief exchange with Zach. He is on the roof and he is not alone. However, he had already left, and I didn't hear how he left.
