The figure looked at Yang Qi in front of him and slowly said, "These stone tablets are the last inheritance left by our ancestors of the Wanxian Sect, so each practitioner can only obtain them once in a lifetime."
Yang Qi is only at the peak of the two-star Martial Emperor, but he can make it here. The figure naturally knows that he has good talent and potential, but no matter how good his talent and potential are, he cannot change the rules that have been set long ago.
Yang Qi nodded to show his understanding. The Wanxian Sect’s old nest was destroyed, and even the Wanxian Sect had disappeared in history. The opportunity within the ruins of the Wanxian Sect’s old nest could be said to be the only remaining inheritance of the Wanxian Sect, and naturally it was impossible to give it to one person easily.
This is also why every time the ruins of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect are unveiled, only a part of them is unveiled. There are even many cave dwellings of powerful practitioners that cannot be entered. This can actually be seen as a means of extending the time of inheritance.
“Senior, the power that destroyed the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect is…” Yang Qi looked at the figure and said.
"Backlash of will."
The figure sighed softly, and then continued, "It is a consensus in the endless universe that a Martial Emperor can refine an alien universe and become the master of an alien universe. If a cultivator below the Martial Emperor refines it by force, he will die. Similarly, if you fail to refine the endless universe, you will be backfired by your will and die."
“Back then, the Wanxian Sect gathered the strength of countless ancestors. Although this increased the chances of refining, the backlash was also more severe. As a result, the entire Wanxian Sect’s lair was destroyed by the backlash of will.” The figure said with a wry smile.
Is it really like this
Yang Qi was stunned. He really didn't know that there was such a thing as will backlash. After all, it was a consensus that the peak Martial Emperor could refine an alien universe, and no cultivator below the peak of the Martial Emperor would try to refine an alien universe because they knew it was impossible.
The same logic applies to refining the endless universe. Today's practitioners will simply not try it, and naturally no one mentions the backlash of will. Even Yang Qi, with his background, had no idea about this before.
Yang Qi looked at the figure, frowned slightly and said, "Then why don't you transfer the practitioners in the Wanxian Sect?"
If the practitioners of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect had been moved out, instead of being devoured and killed by the will of the endless universe, even if the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect's headquarters was destroyed and the sect's most powerful vitality was severely damaged, the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect, as the sect that ruled over a vast star field, would definitely still be able to intimidate all quarters.
However, the destruction of the Wanxian Sect's old nest did not simply cause a serious loss of vitality for the Sect. The entire Wanxian Sect almost fell apart. The main reason for this was that all the practitioners in the Wanxian Sect's old nest died in that battle.
"Because the decision to refine the endless universe back then was made in a hurry, there was no time to transfer. Moreover, once the refining began, the entire nest of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect would become a closed area, providing sufficient energy for the ancestors of all generations." The figure said helplessly.
The Wanxian Sect had thought about transferring the practitioners in its old nest. It was not that they did not want to, but that it was too late. Ultimately, all the practitioners in the Wanxian Sect's old nest died in that battle.
"Haste?" Yang Qi was stunned, looking at the figure in front of him in confusion.
"The Wandao Monument is a rare item obtained by our ancestors. After studying the Wandao Monument, the ancestors of the Wanxian Sect came up with this method to refine the endless universe." The figure paused here and continued, "The ancestors of all generations have continuously integrated the origin of the Tao and the origin of the soul, but the Wandao Monument has a limit to its endurance. After an ancestor stripped away the origin of the Tao, he found that the Wandao Monument could not bear it. If we don't act in time, the efforts of the ancestors of the Wanxian Sect will be in vain, so..."
Hearing this, Yang Qi also understood that the reason why the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect was in a hurry to try to refine the endless universe was completely out of helplessness, because if they did not try, the Ten Thousand Dao Monument would shatter on its own, and all billions of years of efforts would be wasted.
Therefore, the top leaders of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect decided to try to refine the Endless Universe immediately. Unfortunately, they overestimated the Ten Thousand Dao Stele and their own abilities, and ultimately failed to refine the stele, and took the entire Ten Thousand Immortals Sect's base with them.
“In fact, it’s not just the Ten Thousand Dao Monument. When the leader activated the Ten Thousand Dao Monument, he himself had reached his limit. Even if the Ten Thousand Dao Monument could continue to contain the origin of the Dao, I’m afraid that a cultivator at the peak of the Martial Emperor level would not be able to withstand it.” The figure laughed bitterly and continued, “This method is fundamentally wrong.”
Wrong!
Yang Qi sighed in his heart. He could not make any judgment on what the Wanxian Sect did back then. Because he knew that it was because of these ancestors who kept trying, even at the cost of their lives, that the younger generations could go further on the basis of these ancestors.
The attempts of these predecessors may seem so ridiculous and fundamentally wrong today, but if it were not for their attempts, some people might still continue to follow this wrong path today!
Therefore, for those practitioners who died in the pursuit of transcending the Martial Emperor realm, unless they were some kind of unforgivable demon, Yang Qi only had admiration in his heart.
“Although this path is wrong, and even cost me the foundation of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect, it is not without any gains.” The figure glanced at Yang Qi and spoke slowly, “At least we understand that if we want to refine the endless universe, we need to be at the peak of the Martial Emperor level, and we can’t just rely on numbers. Unless there is someone who has surpassed the Martial Emperor level, it is simply impossible to do it.”
Quantitative change may not necessarily lead to qualitative change. At least when it comes to refining the endless universe, it is simply impossible for practitioners below the Martial Saint realm to do it. The attempts of the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect have also thoroughly confirmed that wanting to refine the endless universe and surpass the Martial Emperor realm is a dead end!
Yang Qi's eyes fell on the figure, a gleam of brilliance flashed in his eyes, and then he slowly said, "Senior, you told me so much, you should not just want to tell me these things, right?"
The images shown by the figure and the destruction of the Wanxian Sect's old nest mentioned in the ruins are all secrets of the Wanxian Sect. Even the top practicing forces nearby may not know these things, but the figure took the initiative to tell him, which was obviously abnormal.
The figure looked at Yang Qi in front of him and smiled calmly, "You broke the seal in the stone tablet, and a ray of the stone tablet's origin will soon dissipate. Instead of letting the origin dissipate on its own, it is better to do something meaningful, isn't it?"
Yang Qi nodded without comment. Perhaps the other party did not lie to him about the dissipation of the origin, but he definitely had other intentions in telling him these things.
"Of course, the reason I tell you these things is because I have an opportunity for you. I want you to know in advance about the destruction of the Wanxian Sect's lair." The figure spoke again.
Opportunity
Yang Qi was startled, looking at the figure in front of him in astonishment, then frowned and said, "Senior, didn't you say that the opportunity in the stone tablet can only be obtained once in a lifetime by a cultivator, and if it is obtained again, it is certain death?" (To be continued)
