Xia De nodded and put the box on the windowsill. Even if it was a precious extraordinary item, the devil's creation must not be kept and must be destroyed.
"I can see that you desire more than this, what else do you want?"
The old musician asked again, and Xia De thought for a moment:
"What about power? You say something and people do it."
The demon nodded, agreeing with this view. He took off the golden button on his sleeve and handed it to Shade:
"Wear this and go speak in public. People will believe your opinions and follow you. Maybe you can start in a pub."
"very nice."
Shade nodded again, and out of the corner of his eye he saw Dr. Schneider coming in. The doctor was much faster than him, and by this time he had noticed who Shade was talking to.
"But your desires are still more than these. Tell me, young man, what do you want most?"
The devil continued to ask with a smile.
Shade raised his eyebrows and looked at the window beside him. The room was bustling, but Tobesk seemed very quiet in the dark night. He saw from the reflection that Dr. Schneider was very close, and he only had about twenty steps to walk over. But at the same time, he seemed to see a flash of Mo Hu behind him:
"What I want most is..."
Xia De chuckled, scratched his head and gave an embarrassed answer:
"A pretty girl, of course."
After hesitating for a moment, he added:
"Lots of pretty girls. I confessed my sins to a priest in Coldwater Harbor. I like lots of pretty girls."
He said half-truthfully.
The devil showed an understanding expression:
"Yes, young people of your age always think so. It's good. This desire is good."
This time, it dug out its left eye and handed the eye with some sticky black liquid to Shade. The eye socket of the missing eye was bleeding, but everyone around seemed not to see this scene:
"Put these eyes in your eye sockets, and any girl who looks into your eyes will fall in love with you."
The old musician who was missing an eye clapped his hands and looked very happy:
"This way, your desire can be fulfilled."
But Xia De did not take the eyeball, and was quite disgusted by the blood stain on it:
"I didn't expect you to be satisfied like this. Do you think this is all I want?"
Shade asked somewhat dissatisfiedly.
"Um?"
The ancient evil demon raised his head and looked at the young man in front of him in surprise. His only remaining eye narrowed slightly, not paying attention to the strangeness in the other party's words, but instead trying to find out the truth of the other party's desire more carefully:
"Your desires are more than that? Fun, greed, laziness, oh, and that terrible desire for gluttony."
The demon who spread desire looked at Shad inquiringly. He saw part of the truth, but soon noticed more things:
"What is that?"
It seemed to see another familiar shadow in the body of the young male human in front of it. After just a little thought, the ancient memory automatically completed the truth.
Shade thought it saw the First Fire, or even divinity, but the demon saw something he didn't expect.
A laughing woman's head, a mermaid's tail made up of countless naked white hands and feet, and an existence that has devoured countless souls and is itself the embodiment of some extreme power—
"desire!"
The answer came out immediately. The unbelievable answer made the devil take two steps back. A look of panic appeared on the old musician's face. This was unimaginable for the devil:
"How can you have her power? It's a mortal sin!"
After saying that, he turned around and tried to run, but he bumped into another person head-on. With the power of the demon, it should have knocked away all the blockers, but this time, it was knocked to the ground.
Xia De supported it from behind, and Dr. Schneider, who came over with a cold face, reached out and held its hand:
"Finally I found you."
The middle-aged doctor with a faint red glow in his eyes whispered, his voice sounding a little greasy:
"Where are you going to run to this time?"
As soon as the doctor's hand touched the old musician, it seemed as if all the strength in his body had been drained away. If Shade hadn't been holding him up, he would have fallen to the ground immediately.
"You, you..."
No one noticed this, but the doctor's mouth, which was split open in the palm of his hand, had already bitten the demon's arm. Only Shade could hear the sucking sound of "gulp gulp", and the demon's power was being quickly absorbed by the doctor.
"Do you think this is the end?"
The old musician struggled to squeeze out a sound from his throat. His only remaining eye stared at the doctor fiercely in the scarlet light:
"I am a demon of desire... of proliferation. Do you think this is my only body?"
"Yes, the other body is on the roof."
The doctor said softly, his expression not very serious:
"We'll go find it right away. You can't escape."
"I know you're chasing me. Now, let me tell you a secret."
The old musician was supported by Xia De and came to the window. He stared at the doctor intently:
"I have prepared a special gift for you, a sage-level relic. Once this body of mine is defeated, the other body will release the relic on the rooftop. None of you can..."
Dr. Schneider stretched out his hand expressionlessly and broke its neck, while releasing his right hand:
"This is not the real one. It seems that it is smarter than I thought. The real one is upstairs."
Xia De looked at the body of the old musician who had been dead for a week and placed it there, as if he was lying on the windowsill looking at the night:
"A sage-level relic..."
He sighed softly, and a red light flashed in the doctor's eyes:
"If a corpse contaminated by a demon is not dealt with in time, it will become a breeding ground for other evil spirits. Once this matter is resolved, write a letter to the church. As for the relics..."
He raised his head and looked upwards, as if he could look into the eyes of the ancient evil demon through the floor:
"It's normal for an ancient evil to have some strange things in its hands. Come on, detective, go to the roof. It didn't run away, it's waiting for us."
The Royal Festival Hall has one underground floor and four above-ground floors. There are summer open-air concerts on the roof of the concert hall every summer, so including the top floor, there are actually five floors above ground.
After leaving the dressing room on the second floor, under the guidance of Dr. Schneider, they continued to walk towards the east, hoping to reach the top floor directly through the stairs. While there was no one around, the doctor lowered his voice and said to Shade under the gas lamp on the stairs:
"The other party probably knows that I also use the power of demons, so it is very likely that it has arranged a relic that specifically restrains demons to deal with me, thinking that it will wait for the result of my fight with the relic before deciding what to do next. If possible, I will need you to stop the relic later."
Xia De, who was carrying his violin case, nodded slightly. Sage-level (level 2) relics should never be underestimated. The only Sage-level relic that he had encountered that fully displayed its power was the Fishbone Pirate Ship. But the Fishbone Pirate Ship was one of the more powerful Sage-level relics after all. If it was a Sage-level relic that was purely aimed at demons, Xia De felt confident that he could try to stop it.
The musicians went up and down the floors for the performance. There were special stairs. The doctor took the guests up the stairs with Shade. There were almost no idle people going up and down at will during the performance.
They walked on the red carpet towards the upper level. Although they were very careful along the way, they did not encounter any relics that attacked them.
The door leading to the roof was locked with an iron chain, but that did not prevent the doctor from breaking the lock. After reaching the roof, Victor Fanni, standing alone in the night, seemed to be waiting for them.
Snowflakes started to fall from the sky at some point, and soon they were getting heavier. The snow on the roof that had accumulated earlier this week had not melted away completely, and a series of obvious footprints extended from the stairs to the demon, and then from the demon's feet back. It was obvious that someone had been here before Shade and the doctor.
Because it was snowing, the weather was gloomy, and coupled with the thick gray fog, almost no stars were visible in the sky, and even the moonlight was hazy.
Bill Schneider looked at the demon in the moonlight, while Shade looked at the full-length gray angel standing in the shadows. The angel stood behind the demon, with its head bowed and its face covered with its hands, as if it was crying.
Outsider, you are exposed to whispers and wonders.
“Is this the relic?”
Angel statues were common as decorations in this era, but the one in front of him didn't look sacred at all. Instead, it made people feel uneasy just by standing there.
The whispering element is extremely terrifying. This relic is probably the most dangerous one even among the sage-level relics.
The doctor didn't have time to pay attention to the statue at this moment. He looked at the demon in front of him and took a step forward:
"I'm surprised you didn't run away."
"I'm also surprised that someone like you exists."
Victor Fanny also looked at the doctor with a strange smile:
"I know you want to devour me. I even know what you are. But it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all. Your desire is just as delicious to me. You treat me as prey, and I treat you as prey."
The devil and the doctor who sealed the devil stood together in the snow. Behind the former was an angel statue, and behind the latter was a stranger who inherited the witcher's equipment in the Sixth Era and was carrying a violin case.
They were both looking at each other until the demon pointed to the ground:
"Tonight, let's use this concert hall as our stage and hunting ground to see who is the best hunter."
The demon took a step back, and the dead-looking angel statue with its face covered actually slid forward a step:
"Sage-level relic, Weeping Angel."
It smiled and said to the doctor:
"I know you are confident that you can deal with me, but how are you going to deal with this relic?"
