Chapter 1073: The Book of Fools and The Source of Chaos

The next two pages in the book describe how the item circulated among extraordinary people during the Fourth Age.

The Fourth Age was an age of darkness and turmoil. Dark creatures occupied most of the land in the material world, and cannibal tribes were rampant. Intelligent life could only survive by helping each other, which led to the good relationship between humans, elves, dwarves, fey, dragons and other races in the early Fifth Age, and directly led to the emergence of multi-racial hybrid creatures.

For example, Miss Fiona Drago, whom Shad met in the ruins of the Gaddis Library in the Dead Valley, obviously had both human and red dragon bloodlines.

The powerful relic, the source of chaos, also has many stories in the Fourth Age. The Book of Fools showed Shade those tragic and terrible past events. Shade flipped through it quickly and realized that these stories written in ancient languages were themselves a strange power.

Unfortunately, even the writer of the Book of Fools could not have predicted in the Fourth Era where the stranger would find this relic in the winter of 1853 in the Sixth Era.

"This book will not abruptly display unnecessary content. It seems that the 'yellow moon' that the bard requested is the Sage-level relic Source of Chaos. Miss Danister also mentioned this relic yesterday."

Shade thought to himself, closed the book, and said to Sir Prisha rather embarrassedly:

"This book gave me the knowledge of how to prepare the magic potion - the love potion and how to learn the magic spell - the love spell. This very immoral magic can allow the caster to gain the favor of the opposite sex unconditionally within a certain period of time. The learning conditions require the reproduction of spiritual runes such as Red Moon and Love."

He told them part of the contents of the Pink Book. Sir Prisha did not doubt it, but smiled and said:

"Perhaps the Book of Fools thinks that you need this since you are troubled by emotional problems right now."

"Yes, yes."

Xia De gave a helpless half-truthful response:

"Don't mention Margaret."

"Oh, detective, I did not mention His Highness's name."

The smile on the knight's face became more obvious. Seeing Shade's embarrassed look, he did not continue to tease him. Instead, he said, "From the information, only a few people can directly obtain the most useful knowledge from this book. Mr. Hamilton, your wisdom is indeed recognized by this book."

"I'm not smart at all. I just know more than most people."

Shad said this modestly, and Sir Prisha only thought that Shad meant that he knew a lot as a ring mage, and didn't know that this was a metaphor for the outsider.

"Sir Prissy, what did you see just now?"

Xia De asked with pretended curiosity, which was a test.

The Jazz hesitated for a moment, but considering that Shade had taken the initiative to reveal the knowledge he had seen, the Jazz finally spoke:

"Some secrets, knowledge and wisdom about this world."

What he said was very vague, but it seemed that these contents were the conditions required for the chosen one's ritual obtained by Luvia's divination. But looking at Sir Prisha's disappointed look just now, the knowledge given to him by the Book of Fools should not be enough.

"Knowledge and wisdom."

Xia De sighed softly and led the topic into the direction he wanted to discuss:

"Speaking of which, mortals are truly amazing. Relying on the inheritance of knowledge and the sparks of wisdom, our civilization has been able to advance to this point."

Sir Prisha nodded. He didn't mind talking to Shade about his understanding of wisdom and knowledge:

"It is indeed miraculous. This is a great achievement for mortals. I think the gods favor us, who are like ants, because they are impressed by the miracles created by our knowledge and wisdom."

"But knowledge always has weight, and we can only bear a little bit."

Shade pinched his fingers and said, and Sir Prisha laughed:

"I love knowledge and I love books. For me, even if the pursuit of knowledge comes at a price, I am willing to pay it until I reach a point where I can no longer go forward."

“I met an old professor some time ago, and he also pursued knowledge and wisdom with this attitude.”

Shade mentioned Professor Drake again:

"But what a pity! When he finally touched the knowledge and wisdom he longed for, he became afraid."

The carriage was turning the corner, and the knight frowned slightly:

"I'm sorry, but what do you mean by scared?"

“He craves knowledge and wisdom that he does not know, but when he truly knows what he has, he is horrified at how terrible the truth of the world is.”

Shade shook his head, recalling what Professor Drake once said:

"We live on a peaceful island called ignorance, surrounded by an endless black ocean, and we should not set sail. The dark grave is in front of us, and I would like to sleep here forever, listening to the wind and waves - these are the words of the professor. In the end, he gave up his talent, his memory, and some of his limbs, and gave up the knowledge forever."

Shade had no objection to Professor Drake's choice. After all, the professor had said during their last meeting that he had no regrets in his life, and that he would be at peace when he entered eternal sleep.

But Sir Prisha showed a mocking expression on his face:

"Mr. Hamilton, I have no intention of blaming your friend, nor do I intend to criticize the life others choose for themselves. But isn't that professor a little too...cowardly?"

Although he was sitting opposite Shade, he seemed to be facing the sea with his arms open:

“Even if the world is like a black ocean and we live on a peaceful island called ignorance, we still have to go out to sea. To explore, to witness, to desire, to seek knowledge. If we don’t see the unknown scenery with our own eyes and only seek a peaceful sleep, then why should we live?”

Xia De understood his point of view:

"That old professor was afraid because he knew the dangers of extraordinary knowledge. After all, if an accident occurs, the disaster caused by that knowledge and wisdom will also affect other people."

Shade smiled and said:

“There are many people who have the courage to break through the Island of Ignorance and explore the dangerous Black Ocean, but people always have to worry about whether their actions will attract the dangerous and strange monsters living in the Black Ocean to the peaceful island.”

For a moment, Shad seemed to see a sarcastic smile on Sir Prisha's face, and he was not sure if he was seeing it wrong.

You read that right.

"Mr. Hamilton, the process of seeking knowledge is always dangerous, but we should not be deterred by it."

"So, we have to strike the right balance. Balance, yes, balance the weight between danger and the pursuit of knowledge."

Shad said, and Sir Prisha nodded, but he had lost interest in talking to Shad.

Shade could also feel that he and the gentleman from the United Kingdom of Carsenrick in front of him seemed to be different people. They were both brave enough to seek knowledge, but Sir Prisha was probably a little too reckless.

The carriage first took Shard to St. Teresa's Square, and then took Sir Priss away.

Xia De had no other travel plans today, so he read books and checked the accounts for the past year in the study. After all, it was the end of the year, and he had to manage his finances well to prevent mistakes from being made when the Kingdom Tax Bureau audited the tax.

After lunch, Mia took a nap on the windowsill of the study, and Shade took out the Book of Fools to check the information of the Sage-level relic, the Source of Chaos. But there was a sound of a bell downstairs, so Shade got up and opened the door.

When the napping cat heard Shade get up and walk away, it jumped from the windowsill to the ground, then from the ground to the chair, and then jumped onto the desk.

"Meow?"

It noticed the book that Shade had opened on the desk, so it lowered its head and looked over. Large areas of text and illustrations immediately appeared on the originally blank pages.

The big amber eyes were full of doubts. Mia took a few steps back to see the whole page clearly. It stared at the things it couldn't understand, and then the book automatically turned to the next page in front of the cat. There were also dense texts and images on the back. The cat continued to stare at it carefully and nodded slightly, as if it really understood the content above.

"doctor?"

It was Dr. Schneider who appeared downstairs at Xia De's house. Seeing Xia De inviting him upstairs, the doctor waved his hand:

"I have other things to do, so I'll be gone in a moment. Last Tuesday, you asked me to spy on Laikins Prisha's desires. Today is exactly one week, so I'll tell you about the situation."

He started talking to Shade in the hallway:

"He's a very strange person, very strange. I followed your request and didn't get close to him, let alone enter his dreams. I just observed him from afar. By the way, I have to thank you for your invitation. I attended many high-end banquets this week... ... I'm getting off topic. In short, his desire to come to Kings Prisha is greater than anyone else. Not to mention compared to ordinary people, even compared to the ring wizards, his desire is a little too strong."

Seeing Xia De frowning, the doctor added:

"Don't worry, that's not some bad desire. It's a desire for knowledge. A very crazy desire for knowledge, a desire for new knowledge, a desire for wisdom. I don't even need to use my supernatural powers to feel the intensity of that desire. I can feel it directly with my eyes."

He pointed to his eyes:

"I dare say that with such a strong desire, as long as he is not dead, he will definitely do something extraordinary."

Xia De asked with some concern:

"No matter what kind of desire it is, being too strong is never a good thing, right?"

"But it's not necessarily a bad thing. The key lies in whether Sir Laikins Prisha can control his desires."

The doctor commented cautiously.
