A train hanging upside down on a rock formation was speeding towards Hope Island. The windows of the second carriage were open, and the salty and humid sea breeze blew up Margaret's hair that covered half of her face, revealing a hideous, long and narrow scar.
Sitting next to her was her maid Gina, who turned her head to look at her mistress. "Governor, I really don't understand why you are going to send the wizard of Icha Island off in person?"
Margaret looked at the darkness outside the window and seemed not to have heard anything. It was not until the maid asked for the third time that she reacted, "Do your own thing. Don't ask so many questions about some things."
Gina showed a hint of doubt on her face. She always felt that the Governor today was a little different from the Governor in the past. Even the scars on his face seemed softer.
Margaret continued to turn her head to look at the darkness outside, but the darkness did not last long, as the world outside gradually became brighter.
At first it was just a dim red on the sea level, then gradually turned into light yellow, bright yellow, and finally turned into rays of sunlight shining on the roof of Hope Island.
The entire diamond-shaped island is green in color, including the crops planted there and the large area of bright green grass on the roof. Under the strong sunlight, the green leaves seem to be glowing. Hope Island is like an emerald gem in the darkness.
Many faces came out of the car window, fascinated by the miracle of the sea. Many people knew about the Island of Hope from other people's mouths.
But when Hope Island really appeared in front of them, they realized how poor and simple the words others used to describe Hope Island were.
"Although the island is not as big as Hefang, it is really bright here. Seeing such a bright place makes me feel much better, and the temperature is also higher than other places. It would be great if Hefang could be like this." Gina said with envy in her tone.
As she continued to stare at Hope Island, Margaret suddenly reached out, closed the window and pulled down the black cloth.
"Governor, what are you doing?"
"Sunshine is beautiful, but don't forget that it is also deadly. There have always been many fools who have been killed by the sun because they were too excited."
The windows on the train were quickly rolled up, and it sped towards the elevator tower in the center of Hope Island like a giant black snake.
As the friction sound of chains and pulleys continued to ring, the metal elevator that Margaret and her group were riding in rapidly dropped from the top of the elevator tower.
When the elevator door opened, Bandage, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, and a group of people were already waiting. "Welcome... to Hope Island, our ally."
Margaret looked around and frowned slightly, "Is it possible that Governor Hefang's visit is not even worth the Governor of Hope Island showing up?"
"Something happened. It's not convenient for the captain."
Margaret snorted coldly. She turned slightly to one side, and an old man with a white beard and a hood came forward. "You need the wizard from Icha Island."
The Gaunt family patriarch looked at the bandaged man in front of him with his cloudy eyes, "Where is the person whose memory was modified? I'll go take a look first. Let me make it clear first, I can only try, and I'm not sure if it will succeed."
"Please come this way." The warden of Hope Island stepped forward, saluted him, and led him to the car next to him.
On the other side, Bandage took out a few pieces of paper and handed them to Margaret, "This is the method of identifying and modifying memories. Take a look and see if you have it on your island."
Margaret looked at him with some confusion. The maid Gina stepped forward and held out her hands to take the papers. "So that's true? Anna really left?"
Bandage glanced at her, then turned and walked towards his car. "Captain. On the boat."
Margaret was walking alone on the streets of Hope Island, looking at the streets and scenery in front of her which were completely different from those in Hefang. Compared to Hefang where most of the buildings were two or three stories high, the buildings in Hope Island were much taller, and there were even some super-tall buildings that reached the ceiling above.
Compared to people on other islands, the skin of the islanders on Hope Island is obviously darker. I don’t know if it’s an illusion, but Margaret feels that the islanders on Hope Island are happier than those on her island.
The maid said that she was in a better mood because of the brightness, and Margaret thought it was because the entire island had never been baptized by the death ray.
If 80 to 90% of the population on the entire island died like He Fang, I'm afraid we won't be happy no matter how bright the weather is.
Passing by a restaurant, Margaret saw diners staring at TV behind the glass windows.
Looking at the small boxes with people dancing inside them, Margaret couldn't help but sigh at the powerful technology of Hope Island, which might even be rivaled by the British Isles.
Margaret walked along Second Street towards the pier while observing the surrounding scenery. She walked very slowly, and after three hours, she finally arrived in front of the Narwhal.
The Governor of Hope Island's ship was docked alone in the private dock of the naval camp. There was no one standing guard outside, leaving the ship docked here all alone.
"Bang~!" Margaret took one step and jumped directly onto the deck by stepping on the guardrail next to her.
She knew the layout of the Narwhal. When she was kidnapped, she had lived on this ship for a period of time. Soon she came to the familiar captain's room.
Margaret reached out to knock on the door but stopped, looking a little hesitant.
"Creaky~" The door of the captain's room suddenly opened by itself, and it was dark inside and there was no light on.
"Is there something wrong?" Charles' tired voice came from inside.
Margaret bit her lower lip, rushed in, groped for the oil lamp and lit it. The swaying candlelight illuminated the entire room, as well as Charles who was lying on the bed drinking.
His chin was unshaven and his eyes were bloodshot. Some new paintings were piled messily on the drawing board next to him and on the floor.
"I'm sorry, I can see in the dark, and I always thought other people could see it, too."
Margaret walked forward, squatted on the ground and quickly sorted out the paintings. The contents on the canvas were all kinds of strange things, but most of them were portraits of Anna.
"Can a woman's departure make you so decadent? This is not like the Governor Charles of Hope Island that I know." Margaret placed the thick drawing paper on the table.
Charles smiled silently. "I don't want to discuss my family affairs with others. What are you doing here this time? Go find bandages for the things on the island."
There was a hint of hesitation in Margaret's eyes, but she gritted her teeth and immediately became firm. She walked in front of Charles and stood up straight.
"Anna is gone, which means you are alone again. This time I won't run away or wait any longer!"
