The Path of the Sage

Chapter 2047: A Gift to Liushan's Crying Crow

Views:

The officials in the court were helpless when they saw that Fang Yun turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to their advice.

Some scholars hurriedly passed the message to the great scholars present, but all the great scholars including Jiang Hechuan, Zhou Junhu, Chen Zhixu, Cao De'an and Zhao Jingkong could only look at Fang Yun helplessly.

Before, these great scholars could persuade Fang Yun by relying on their high literary status, but now Fang Yun is no longer an ordinary university scholar, no longer a literary giant, and they are not qualified to teach Fang Yun at all.

They have become great scholars, their words and deeds are polite, and they will not overstep the mark even in such dangerous situations.

Seeing Fang Yun so determined, some people's expressions suddenly became firm and they stared at Liu Shan. Wen Gong's talent was shaken and their words and swords rang out.

As long as the two sides go to war, these people will definitely protect Fang Yun at all costs.

Even so, the one he will face is a semi-saint!

Wherever the national hero is, all saints are enemies!

Within a radius of ten thousand miles of the capital, the heaven and earth shook slightly, and the vital energy was disordered.

Liu Shan and the left prime minister's party finally changed their faces. They were not frightened by Fang Yun's gift of poems, but were shocked by the common hatred of the civil and military officials.

If all the civil and military officials of Jing State attack together, Zongsheng may not be able to save Liushan!

This is because the national destiny of Jing State and all the forces of the capital will take the initiative to resist the power of Zongsheng.

With united efforts, we are not afraid of half-saints!

Fang Yun was completely unaware and started writing poetry.

A gift to you: The cry of the kind crow on Liushan Mountain.

The kind crow lost its mother and uttered mournful sounds in a hoarse voice.

It never flies away day or night, and guards the old forest for years.

He cries every night at midnight, and anyone who hears him will have his clothes wet with tears.

My voice seems to tell you that I have not yet fully repaid my parents.

All birds are like mothers, but you are the only one who is deeply sad and resentful.

It must be your mother's love that makes you so sad.

Now there is a man named Liushan who did not attend his mother’s funeral.

Alas, these people, their hearts are worse than those of animals.

Kind crow, kind crow again, the Zeng Shen among birds.

Before the poem was finished, it attracted everyone's attention.

There is a kind of crow whose mother is kind and whose son is filial. It is praised by the people, so it is called the kind crow.

This poem is not difficult to understand. It tells the story of a crow that lost its mother and often cries. It guards the woods where its mother once lived and refuses to leave. The crow cries every day, as if complaining that it has not been able to repay its mother and fulfill its filial piety. People who hear this will also shed tears. Why is the crow so sad? Don't other birds have mothers? It should be because the crow is so filial that it cannot bear the pain of its mother's death.

When Fang Yun wrote this, many scholars vaguely understood that Fang Yun did not want to write a war poem to attack Liu Shan, but wanted to use the power of poetry to criticize Liu Shan. After all, the human race has more power than just war poems, such as the famous "Guan Zhong's Proclamation to the Chu Envoy", "Proclamation to Bashu", "Proclamation to Yuzhou for Yuan Shao" and "Proclamation to Shu", etc., which have once formed substantial power and even weakened the fate of the enemy country.

The key point is that Fang Yun did not use war poems, so it does not count as killing the Taoist priest. If it could affect Liu Shan, even the Saint of the Sect would find it difficult to have a reason to help.

Now it is equivalent to a literary competition. As long as the patriarch intervenes, the other semi-saints will have reason to come forward to persuade.

Even so, everyone was still worried about Fang Yun. Fang Yun did not use battle poems, and was not afraid of being counterattacked by the Daoist. Instead, he used a very rare literary competition method, but this literary competition also had the risk of failure.

There are many ways of literary comparison, such as flying flowers responding to orders, iron striking corals, and admiring towering mountains, but the most famous of them is Qushui Liushang.

A shang is a wine cup. People are at the lower reaches of a stream. Someone puts a wine cup into the water upstream. The cup floats downstream. Whoever the cup stops in front of drinks the cup and writes a poem. This literary comparison was recorded in Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Lanting Collection".

Now, Fang Yun is going to use a literary comparison method similar to that of "Zhu Gong Killing His Son" to taunt Liu Shan, which is taken from the record about Fan Li in "Records of the Grand Historian".

"Records of the Grand Historian" recorded a story that after Fan Li helped Gou Jian to defeat Wu, he resigned from his official position and went to Tao, calling himself Zhu Gong, so people called him Tao Zhu Gong.

Tao Zhugong's second son was imprisoned for killing someone in Chu State. Tao Zhugong asked his youngest son to take the gold to find his good friend Zhuang Sheng. However, the eldest son thought that saving his brother was his duty, and his father asked the youngest son to go. He thought that he was an unfilial son, so he wanted to commit suicide. So his mother asked Tao Zhugong to let him go.

Tao Zhugong had no choice but to let his eldest son go.

After the eldest son arrived at the Zhuang family, he gave the gold to Zhuang Sheng. Zhuang Sheng was very upright. Although he accepted the gold, he instructed his wife to return the gold to Tao Zhugong after the task was completed.

After Tao Zhugong's eldest son left the banker, he spent money to find other dignitaries of the Chu State.

Zhuangzi secretly asked to see the King of Chu and said that he had observed the celestial phenomena at night and found that Chu was in trouble and only a general amnesty could help it. So the King of Chu believed Zhuangzi and was about to grant a general amnesty.

Tao Zhugong's eldest son learned from other officials of Chu that the King of Chu was about to grant amnesty to the whole country. He thought that he had given Zhuang Sheng gold for nothing, so he went to ask for it back. Zhuang Sheng was very angry because he was deceived and insulted, so he asked to see the King of Chu again, saying that someone was spreading rumors that the King of Chu granted amnesty to the second son of Tao Zhugong, not to avoid disasters and show sympathy to the people. The King of Chu was furious and killed Tao Zhugong's second son, and then granted amnesty to the whole country.

Finally, Tao Zhugong's eldest son brought his brother's body back home.

Tao Zhugong then explained the reason why he let his third son go. His eldest son had followed Tao Zhugong in business in his early years and had experienced a hard life, so he valued money. But when his third son was born, Tao Zhugong was already rich enough to rival a country, so he did not value money and would never ask Zhuang Sheng to return the gold.

In Shengyuan Continent, if one person is dissatisfied with the talent and reputation of another, the two can initiate "Zhu Gong Killing His Son". One party will continuously write poems and articles to give to the other party, just like sending the eldest son as a gift of gold. Once the other party is convinced and admits that the poems and articles he received are better than his own, he can only return the poems and admit defeat.

Normally, "Mr. Zhu killing his son" would only cause the literary reputation of one person to rise and the other to fall, but the officials believed that since Fang Yun had started writing poetry, he would never let Liu Shan off easily.

When Fang Yun wrote that Liu Shan's mother died but he did not go to the funeral, and scolded him as worse than an animal, the readers either cheered in their hearts or said it out loud.

After Fang Yun wrote the last two lines, "Kind crow again kind crow, the Zeng Shen among birds," the Golden Palace fell silent.

Zeng Shen is Zengzi, one of the six sub-sages of human race!

Fang Yun praised this kind crow as the second most filial saint among birds!

The whole poem was completed. Because he was in the imperial palace, his talent naturally showed up. It was about two feet three inches high and was a poem written by Da Fu.

Liu Shan's expression changed slightly, his eyes were full of doubts, and he stared at Fang Yun nervously, fearing that something strange might happen.

After a few breaths, nothing happened and Liu Shan breathed a sigh of relief.

But at this moment, many great scholars looked up at the sky, and their minds flew out of the palace.

I saw a thick cloud covering a thousand miles in the sky. Lightning, thunder, blue fire and white light were flashing in the dark cloud, as if it was brewing a power to destroy the world.

Afterwards, many great scholars felt that there was a rare holy power in the sky. A similar power appeared when Zengzi helped Confucius compile the "Book of Filial Piety".
