When in the ancient forbidden land, Yang Qi had fought with corpses affected by tarsal corpse worms. Corpses controlled by insect beasts were more difficult to deal with than simple insect beasts. At that time, Yang Qi was only dealing with corpses that had just been controlled. If it was a living cultivator, it would be even more troublesome.
Yang Qi already knew the dangers of the insect tomb, but if he wanted to get the opportunity left by the Ten Thousand Immortals Emperor, he had to go through the insect tomb, there was no other choice. Along the way, whether it was the valley or the open area, the opportunities contained in them were not precious, the truly precious ones were behind the insect tomb.
Yang Qi entered the Wanxian Mansion in order to find an opportunity that could help the Dark Beetle evolve to the Martial Emperor level, and Pang Xuan came to the Wanxian Mansion for the opportunity behind the Insect Tomb, so naturally he could not retreat at this time.
As the two continued to go deeper, the surroundings began to be affected by the black and gray fog that emanated from the depths of the insect tomb. The fog was clearly mixed with a strong amount of death energy.
Feeling the death energy all around, Yang Qi couldn't help but frown, "I didn't expect so much death energy to be gathered here."
Generally speaking, the bigger the corpse, the more dead energy there is, and the larger the range it can affect. The insect beasts are generally not too big, and the range of the dead energy they affect is not too large, but the dead energy deep in the insect tomb can spread so far, which shows how strong the dead energy accumulated in the insect tomb is.
Although the death energy is not weak, it has no effect on practitioners at the Martial Emperor level. It just makes people feel uncomfortable.
As the dark grey fog became thicker and thicker, the death aura also became stronger. At the same time, the fog's suppression on practitioners became stronger. Even with Yang Qi's soul strength, his perception range was suppressed to less than ten thousand feet.
"Um?"
Suddenly, Yang Qi's expression changed, and he asked in a deep voice, "Can this mist also affect the circulation of Yuanli?"
Just now, Yang Qi suddenly discovered that when he mobilized the energy in his body, he actually felt a sense of sluggishness. Although this feeling was not so strong, if he encountered an opponent of equal strength, the harm caused by this effect would definitely be considerable.
"What escapes from the insect tomb is not only deathly aura, but also poisonous gas. This poisonous gas is mixed with countless kinds of poisonous insects, which can affect the cultivators' ability to mobilize their energy." Pang Xuan glanced at Yang Qi and continued, "Therefore, the cultivators' strength will be greatly affected when they arrive at the insect tomb."
"This insect tomb is really troublesome." Yang Qi said with a grim expression.
The poison of the poisonous snake emperor had not affected him before, but the fog in the insect tomb actually affected him. Without a martial emperor insect beast, he mainly relied on his own strength. Now that his ability to mobilize his energy was affected, his strength would inevitably be affected.
Looking at Yang Qi's grim expression, Pang Xuan couldn't help but say, "Brother Yang, don't worry too much. This poison gas is just a suppression for cultivators and will not cause any substantial harm."
Although the environment of the Insect Tomb is special, it does not directly threaten the lives of Martial Emperor realm practitioners. The real threat in the Insect Tomb is not this special environment.
"That is..."
At this moment, Yang Qi's attention was attracted by a fist-sized broken corpse not far away. It was a dark golden beetle. Judging from the remaining breath, it was a low-level Martial Emperor-level insect beast.
This was the first insect corpse that Yang Qi and his companions had seen since entering the insect tomb. However, the corpse was obviously incomplete. It was unknown whether it was due to the erosion of time or because it was swallowed by other insects.
Once there is one, there will be two. As Yang Qi and his companions continued to go deeper, they saw more and more corpses of insects and beasts. These insects and beasts were of all kinds. Some were the corpses of insects and beasts that Yang Qi and his companions had seen before, while some were the corpses of insects and beasts that they had never seen before.
The corpses of these insect beasts are scattered throughout the insect tomb, and each corpse occupies a small area. They seem to be within reach, but these corpses are covered by a transparent light curtain, making it impossible to directly obtain the corpses of the insect beasts.
The value of the corpse of a Martial Emperor Realm Insect Beast is not low. After all, the fact that an Insect Beast can grow to the Martial Emperor Realm is a precious resource in itself, especially for practitioners who follow the path of Insect Beasts. The corpse of an Insect Beast not only contains the blood of the Insect Beast, but also contains the Insect Beast's Dao and huge energy, which can help the Insect Beast grow and evolve.
In the insect tomb, the corpses of insect beasts were not scattered all over the ground, but they could be seen everywhere. At this moment, Yang Qi truly understood the origin of the title of the Emperor of Ten Thousand Insects!
Even though the Emperor of Ten Thousand Insects had fallen long ago, the Ten Thousand Immortals Palace he left behind still shows how powerful the Emperor of Ten Thousand Insects was in the past.
Um
As Yang Qi and Pang Xuan were cautiously heading towards the depths of the insect tomb, Yang Qi's expression suddenly changed, and he shouted, "Watch your step!"
Whoosh~
Almost at the moment when Yang Qi spoke, Pang Xuan's figure flew away and quickly left the spot.
Poof!
The moment Pang Xuan left the place, the ground suddenly exploded, and a gray-white insect beast with two long tentacles drilled out from the ground.
Looking at the gray-white insect beast, Pang Xuan's face darkened and he uttered three words coldly, "Soul Devouring Insect!"
Squeak! Squeak!
Before Pang Xuan could finish his words, the Soul-Eating Insect, which had missed its attack, suddenly jumped up from the ground and rushed towards Pang Xuan.
Bang!
However, just as the Soul-Eating Insect flew out, a light gray sword beam slashed fiercely on its body. It was Yang Qi, who had been on guard for a long time, who took action.
"What a strong body!"
Looking at the Soul-Eating Insect that was chopped away, Yang Qi's face changed slightly. He used the power of the Five Elements and swung his sword, which only left a shallow scar on the Soul-Eating Insect.
Poof!
The soul-eating insect on the ground moved its body and drilled directly into the ground, disappearing from Yang Qi's perception in an instant.
All this happened in just a moment. Before Pang Xuan, who had escaped the disaster, could make a move, the soul-eating insect had already escaped.
Pang Xuan looked at Yang Qi standing aside and said with gratitude, "Brother Yang, thank you very much. If you hadn't reminded me, I would have suffered a great loss."
In the insect tomb, many dangers come from underground, and the underground is the most difficult to perceive because of the blood and corpses of insects and beasts. Even though Pang Xuan was always vigilant, he was almost ambushed by the soul-eating insect.
"Brother Pang, you don't have to be polite. Since you and I have joined forces, this is what I should do." Yang Qi smiled calmly, and then asked with a little curiosity, "What is that soul-eating insect?"
"The Soul Devouring Insect feeds on the corpses of insects and beasts and residual souls. Its body is very powerful and it can also devour souls, making it extremely difficult to deal with." Pang Xuan paused here before continuing, "However, the appearance of the Soul Devouring Insect represents an opportunity, indicating that the restriction on the nearby corpses of insects and beasts is about to disappear." (To be continued)
